Kirsty Mitchell’s late mother Maureen was an English teacher who spent her life inspiring generations of children with imaginative stories and plays. Following Maureen’s death from a brain tumour in 2008, Kirsty channelled her grief into her passion for photography.

She retreated behind the lens of her camera and created Wonderland, an ethereal fantasy world. The photographic series began as a small summer project but grew into an inspirational creative journey.

‘Real life became a difficult place to deal with, and I found myself retreating further into an alternative existence through the portal of my camera,’ said the artist. (read the rest here).

WORTH THE WAIT  Time magazine, NASA and the US Geological Survey have collaborated on something truly awesome, sifting through trillions of LANDSAT satellite images, culled from the past 30 years, to create “the world’s first multi-decade animated timelapse of the Earth.”  Click on the image for the complete series; you will be blown away.

‘Everyday Heroes’ explores the lives of everyday people - the kind you’d probably pass by everyday but not really notice maybe. It tells their story - the struggles and the triumphs, all of which have made them what they are. These are people hiding amidst us - each bearing a story of inspiration that’s waiting to be discovered.

As undergraduate media students, this is our first initiative at seeking newer stories and finding newer inspiration.

This is a first attempt at creating something like this, so please bear with us.
Although any constructive feedback will be highly appreciated!

And a big, big thank you to Edwin Anthony (Edwin Sir) for his constant help and motivation at the editing desk!

- Aman Deshmukh, Shreya Das. :D

An attempt by my friends to discover parts of our life we usually don’t pay attention to! Best of luck and waiting for the next installment! :D

Big Dipper and Magic Telescope

Stars of the constellation Ursa Major (the Big bear) form the familiar dipper-like asterism in the northern sky as photographed from the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the Canary island of La Palma.

The starry night sky is reflected from one of a pair of 17 meter diameter, multi-mirrored MAGIC telescopes. The MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov) telescope is intended to observe gamma rays indirectly by detecting brief flashes of optical light, called -Cherenkov light. — Babak Tafreshi
